Still here

I am still here - just crazily busy. Will update with my class layouts as soon as I have chance to make them! :) xx

Weekend Fun

I am having a lovely weekend so far. Managed to get lots of crafting in last night and got up early to do some more. Managed two more LOs for my wedding preparations album (only 2 pages to go), but I'll put them up another time. I am especially excited as today we received our copyright free wedding photos dvd - which means I can make a start on the wedding albums (I've got one for us, and two for the parents to fill!).

I did this layout of the Safari Park last night. I had loads of piccies, but it's a bit difficult to get to the photo printer at the moment, so just used my pogo to print a few. I love how the title's turned out. The red glitter letters are K&Co so about 5 quid a bag. The brown letters were from Poundland! You can hardly tell the difference!

Now for my lessons learned.

Lesson Two: Interior designing is much harder than crafting
We have just finished a big extension to our kitchen, and are now at the stage where we need to decorate. This is a lot easier said than done. I just can not find the right colour/paper mix. First we were just going to paint it - but as every crafter knows, even with your best intentions you can't help but fall for patterned paper! I think we've finally decided - but it's took us 7 paint testers and 2 wallpaper samples. My inspiration challenge for this was to use foam pads.

Lesson Three: Always check for labels
I have bought the most gorgeous rain mac from Boohoo. It's called Kylie, and has a lovely flair to the bottom. I was chuffed to wear it for the first time the other day. Feeling smug, I strutted down the street. However, it wasn't until I was sitting on the bus, and felt a weird lump, did I realise I'd left the labels and spare button bag on it! I had to discretely remove it on a packed bus, which wasn't the most fun of things. I hope no-one saw! My challenge was to use a randomly picked piece of paper - which is the white and pink bubbles paper behind the writing. Trust me to pick a paper to completely clash with my background (albeit I could have had a second random dip but that would break the rules! :P).

Apologies for the poor photos - I couldn't get the right lighting today.

I'm just updating with my first pages of Shimelle's LSNED class. I decided to do a title page to start the album, which can be seen here:

My first lesson learnt was: Never Give Up. The Title Page was a nightmare to make! First I made a mistake in the journalling (hidden by the green card behind the word learn). Then I ripped the cardstock, by *cough* getting annoyed and throwing it across the room *cough*, (but hid it with the tab at the top), then I got a splodge of ink on the paper (hidden by the pink chipboard ribbon at the bottom), and finally I smudged the journalling (which I couldn't hide - but, never mind!). But even after all those disasters on such a tiny page, it worked out OK. Hence, NEVER GIVE UP (although my first thought was if you're having a bad day - don't even try! :D)

Anyway, here is my first lesson page. I'm using Shimelle's random inspiration technique, and drew "Use a bird...". I was very happy with that, as I'd had the bird for a while, but wasn't sure how to use it.

Can't wait to see everyone elses.

1st September

Well today is the 1st September. Which means two things. One: it's new Ronan Keating Calendar day (YAY!), and Two: It's the start of Shimelle's new class. I'm incredibly excited, and have been trying my best to learn something today, but haven't yet. I've been practising the last few days to get into the swing of things. For instance, a few days ago, I learnt how to 'pour' the most perfect ice-cream on my ice-cream cone! Now if only that was today - I have the most perfect ice-cream embellishments that I could have used!My lesson over this weekend, would be that a few praising words can give you the most amazing boost of happiness. Thank you for everyone who commented on my first post, and left such lovely comments. Also, a special thanks to my first follower! It has indeed spurred me on to blog more!

I thought I'd use this post to introduce myself a bit more. The lovely Liberty asked about my PhD. I'm just about to start my third year and I am studying cyberpsychology - so psychology in the online world. I hope that doesn't freak anyone out! :) My research topic is looking at personalities online. I'm researching how offline personality translates into online social environments. But don't worry - the online crafting environment is most definitely for my personal time and a way for me to get away from work! :D

I have been crafting for about 6 years. I mainly scrapbook and card make; although I have dabbled in cross stitch, and plan on learning how to sew and jewellery make as soon as I can. I am very lucky to have my own crafting room, and am the joke among my friends for having so much stash that could never possibly get used! I'm really into mini books at the moment so I'm finding it great to use up my mini bits and pieces.

As for my personal interests, I'm sure I'll update my profile eventually! I love Ronan Keating and Boyzone, and could listen to their music all day and everyday. My hubby's very forgiving, as not only as he given me a craft room; he's let me decorate it with Boyzone posters like some young teenager! :D Hubby and I got married in February - hence I still love and marvel at being able to use the word hubby. He is the best hubby in the world though - he even has his own scrapbook (albeit it only has two pages but he's working on it) and his own little stash pile! Yes, he also likes buying pretty papers just to look at! Told you he was the best! :P

I think that's probably all for now. I really should get on with my work. Who would have thought blogging was going to be yet another distraction! Hehe. I'll hopefully start learning soon, and will update with my progress.

Oh, and one more thing. I won some blog candy - a mini book from Tracie H! Thank you!
